4. Native Code Remediation vs. Cosmetic Overlays

Rogabot strictly rejects the use of third-party JavaScript accessibility overlay widgets and toolbar plugins. Federal courts and the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC $1,000,000 deceptive marketing ruling in 2025) have established that superficial overlays do not modify underlying source code, fail to fix broken DOM structures or missing form labels, and introduce severe accessibility barriers for screen reader users.

Every accessibility measure on Rogabot is built natively into our semantic HTML5 markup, OKLCH design token stylesheets, and accessible JavaScript architectures.

Our technical implementation includes:

• Skip to Main Content Navigation: Direct keyboard bypass link positioned as the first focusable element on every page.
• Visible Focus Indicators (WCAG 2.4.7 & 2.4.11): Unconditional high-contrast focus rings (2px solid outline with 3px offset) with a contrast ratio of >= 3:1 against adjacent backgrounds in both Dark Mode and Light Mode. We strictly prohibit CSS focus stripping (outline: none).
• Full Keyboard Operability (WCAG 2.1.1 & 2.1.2): Every interactive control, menu drawer, modal dialog, and calculator slider is operable via standard keyboard shortcuts (Tab, Shift+Tab, Enter, Space, Escape, Arrow keys) with zero keyboard traps.
• Semantic Landmarks & Heading Hierarchy (WCAG 1.3.1): Correct landmark elements (<header>, <nav>, <main>, <footer>) with unique accessible names, and strictly sequential heading outlines (h1 through h3).
• Color Contrast Ratios (WCAG 1.4.3 & 1.4.11): Body text maintains at least 4.5:1 contrast against backgrounds, and large text/interactive borders maintain at least 3.0:1 contrast across all color themes.
• Accessible Forms & Inputs (WCAG 3.3.2 & 2.5.3): All form controls have explicitly bound <label> elements, autocomplete attributes for standard personal data, and programmatic aria-live feedback.
• Touch Target Ergonomics (WCAG 2.5.8): All interactive controls exceed the minimum target size of 24x24px on desktop and 44x44px on touch devices.
• Zoom & Reflow (WCAG 1.4.4 & 1.4.10): Full responsive layout adaptation up to 400% zoom (320px viewport) without horizontal scrolling or loss of content.

• Screen Reader Testing: Manual verification with NVDA and JAWS on Windows, and Apple VoiceOver on macOS and iOS.
• Keyboard and Switch Access Audits: Manual verification of tab orders, focus visibility, dialog trapping, and escape dismissals without a mouse.
• Multi-Browser Matrix: Verification across Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, Microsoft Edge, and Brave.
